Day 15: Day at Dassault

Today was absolutely incredible! We had a day long visit to SIMULIA-Dassault Systemes where we learned about the simulation software that they develop. Engineers at the company showed us simulations of the deformation of a soda can when you step on it. We also got to watch a 3D simulation of a car crash, which was a whole new viewing experience. The engineers explained to us that companies have been able to save millions of dollars and a lot of time by using their software to simulate crash tests instead of using valuable materials to do a real crash tests. The simulation software also allows the user to view the crash from many different perspectives. We had a delicious lunch in the campus cafeteria.

In addition to learning about the software and getting a tour of the company, many of the women who work in the company presented about how they got to where they are. The campers also got to ask their own questions about what it is like to work at SIMULIA, especially in a workplace where women are underrepresented. We had this discussion over an ice cream sundae buffet graciously provided for our visit. During the conversation, we got a surprise visit from the CEO of the company, Scott Berkey. We are so grateful to everyone who worked to make this visit educational, exciting, and inspirational!
