Friday Physics Field Day!

Today was Physics Field Day for Spira! Following our weekly evaluations, the students had the opportunity to listen to Cosima Schunk, a PhD student and researcher who is part of the Bat Flight Research Program at Brown. The program is very interdisciplinary and involves researchers from Brown's School of Engineering and biology department. Cosima also took the students to the laboratory to see the wind tunnels in which the bats fly.

After lunch, we had a physics lesson in preparation for Physics Field Day in which students participate in fun physical activities and calculate relevant physical values, such as power. We even modeled the swing set as a pendulum and had students measure the frequency of their swinging!

Students also created human pyramids!

We can't believe we're already halfway through the camp, but we've had an amazing time so far! Next week will cover electrical and computer engineering and we have plenty of great guest speakers visiting the classroom!
