Aerospace Engineering
We started the day by continuing our work on the motor car projects. At 10 AM, we then had a field trip to where Brown's CubeSat team works. Through NASA's CubeSat Launch Initiative, Brown University students are designing, prototyping, and constructing a satellite that will ultimately be launched into space and seen here in Providence (http://browncubesat.org/)! Team members Eddie and Gareth discussed the manufacturing and prototyping process for the satellite and showed the students the software the team uses to create the satellite.
The students then took a tour of Brown's Student Shop and Fab Lab, which the CubeSat team uses to create parts for the satellite. They learned about each of the machines and how they contribute to the creation of the satellite.
After lunch, the students worked on the creation of a lamp with the help of Emma, who works on outreach and educational programs for CubeSat!
Time flew by quickly today, but we are extremely grateful for the great tour and talk given by Emma, Eddie, and Gareth!
